Maintenance & Scaling

Long-term support after launch — fixes, performance, security, and growth on a fixed cadence.

Software does not stop after launch. Dependencies need patches, performance regresses as data grows, infrastructure costs drift, and customers need new features. Maintenance & Scaling is the work that keeps a healthy product healthy and turns a launched MVP into a long-running business.

We pick up products we built and products we did not. Engagements run on a fixed monthly cadence with a defined SLA — for fixes, dependency updates, performance work, security patches, infrastructure tuning, and a budget for new feature work each month.

The goal is predictable spend and a product that gets faster, safer, and more capable over time instead of slowly decaying.

What's included

  • Bug fix SLA on critical and standard severities
  • Dependency and security patching
  • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Infrastructure cost review
  • Security patches and CVE response
  • Feature enhancement budget each month
  • Architecture review and refactor planning
  • On-call coverage (optional)

Outcomes

  • Reliable software operations with measured uptime
  • Faster response times and lower cloud bills
  • Reduced downtime and incident frequency
  • A scalable growth path with documented capacity headroom
  • Predictable monthly spend instead of surprise rewrites

Who it's for

  • Companies whose original development partner has moved on
  • Founders post-launch who do not yet need a full engineering team
  • Internal teams that need senior backup for hard work
  • Owners of legacy apps who want a maintainable forward path

Typical use cases

  • Post-launch support for a custom web app we built
  • Picking up a legacy app another team left behind
  • Performance tuning a slow SaaS platform
  • Cloud cost review and reduction
  • Security audit and remediation
  • Scheduled feature growth on a monthly cadence

Deliverables

  • Monthly status and metrics report
  • Bug fix and patch deployments
  • Performance and cost review
  • Security patching cadence
  • Feature work delivered against the monthly budget
  • Incident postmortems where applicable

Frequently asked

Do you maintain software you did not build?

Yes. About half of our maintenance work is on inherited codebases. We start with an audit — code, dependencies, infrastructure, security — and produce a prioritized plan before signing the retainer.

What is your response time for critical bugs?

Critical-severity bugs (production down, security exposure) get same-business-day response. Standard bugs are batched into weekly releases unless you contract a faster SLA.

Can we use the retainer for new features, not just fixes?

Yes. Every monthly retainer includes a feature-work budget alongside maintenance hours. You can rebalance month-to-month.

Is there a minimum commitment?

Three months minimum, then month-to-month with 30 days notice. We are explicit about this so you are not locked in if the relationship is not working.
